After the craziness of back-to-school, all the design events crammed into one month, and settling back into a post Summer routine, I feel like I’m in need of a palate cleanser.
I often feel like the simplest things impress me most because it’s so much harder to make something subdued / basic stand out and feel special.
With that said, here’s a round up of 20 unpretentious goods for the home and clothing I’ve come across that happen to be quite beautiful!
1. Didn’t know I could love a bath mat this much.
2. A botanical paperweight that would look so pretty on a coffee table, bookshelf, or desk.
3. I just used these lamps in a project and they are so special. Quite basic in form but with an interesting geometric twist and you can really see the grain of the wood in the base.
4. Who knew Urban Outfitters had flatware! I love this ivory set by Sabre, a brand I use in my own home and suggest for clients all the time.
5. While we’re on tabletop. I love these wicker placemats by Aerin.
6. In the world of vintage, I have my eye on this Swedish Gustavian style apothecary chest.
7. Tell me this isn’t the prettiest candle you’ve ever seen… Definitely a vessel to be saved and reused after burning.
8. You can never go wrong with a simple white stitched kantha quilt, in any bedroom, in any season. True luxury.
9. I love the look of this plush Moroccan rug. Doesn’t need any color or pattern, it’s all about the texture here.
10. Crisp white scalloped shams. Yes.
11. I fear my kids are getting too old for a play table and chairs, but if they were smaller I would totally pull the trigger on this set. So cool, simple, and visually appealing. Wouldn’t hate to see this in my home at all.
12. Matilda Goad’s playful knobs in putty (or any color really) can transform any boring piece of furntiure. A less expensive option here.
13. I see a lot of people go to town on holiday decor. If that’s your jam, I won’t yuck your yums. But it is nice to see some more subdued seasonal stuff on the market, starting with this pretty floral stocking.
14. Every year I hunt for the perfect menorah and never find it. How good is this minimalist take by Via Maris?! The blue version is fun too, in an Yves Klein sort of way.
15. Moving ahead to fashion, last year I decided I was going to be a person who isn’t ashamed to wear a balaclava and haven’t looked back. I own this one. I don’t feel ridiculous in it (I actually think it’s kind of chic) and it’s SUPER cozy. Can’t recommend enough as we head into winter.
16. I always say I’m anti logo, but I broke my rule here and bought this jacquard Bode tee. Something about it makes even a basic pair of jeans feel cooler.
17. I mentioned on instagram that I’ve been working with a stylist for the last few months on reinventing my “event” wardrobe for 40th birthday season. People seemed super interested to know more, so there will be a whole post on it coming soon. But in the meantime, she suggested this dress to me. I was skeptical that it would suit my body type but my whole family says it’s a keeper. It’s EXTREMELY comfortable, very flattering, and miraculously needed no tailoring! Win.
18. On the subject of events, I am going to an epic 40th birthday for a dear friend in a few weeks in Hawaii. I have my eye on this one piece. I never used to spend money on bathing suits until I tried Eres and now I’m a believer. I’ve washed mine over and over and they always look good as new, are extremely flattering, and don’t make me feel like dowdy just because I’m not wearing a bikini. Look how pretty the back is!
19. I’ve been on the hunt for sandals (why do I feel like so many of them are really unattractive or uncomfortable - if you have any recommendations please send). Someone recently raved about these to me. Plus they are $64!
20. I use the short ball chain by Ossa and have found it to be life changing so I’m going full crossbody mom vibes next so I can really be free wheeling. It’s already been ordered - join me on my hands free journey, lol.
Until next time!
